Update 16 JAN 08: There apparently has been more than a couple 3500 gallon fuel oil trucks stolen within the past two weeks, all of them from the Lancaster, PA area. A second tanker was reported to have been located in Washington, D.C. by NBC4 after being sotlen with its 3500 gallon load of fuel oil this past Tuesday. The tanker originally reported on in this blog has still not been recovered. Take careful notice of the quote in the NBC4 report of Washington Metro Police Sgt. James Manning as a clue to the scope of these thefts (emphasis added):"We've heard that there's been other thefts of Heating Oil trucks in Lancaster... We're working with the Lancaster Police Department. I don't believe any of those other trucks have been found around this area, though."
Notwithstanding the price of fuel oil this winter as well as an AP report today stating that heating oil stockpiles have rose last week by 1 million barrels, the potential for these thefts to be terrorism related cannot be summarily dismissed. Even with the passage of H.R. 1680 and S. 1463, also known as the "Secure Handling of Ammonium Nitrate Act of 2007" which gives regulatory oversight power to the Homeland Security Secretary for purchases and sales of ammonium nitrate "to prevent and deter the acquisition of ammonium nitrate by terrorists," I would advise extreme caution and vigilence by all citizens. At least 8,000 gallons of fuel oil has been stolen and unaccounted for. An ANFO (Ammonium Nitrate Fuel Oil) bomb is only an ingredient or two away, and much too close to the nations capital for comfort or complacency.
WGAL Channel 8 reports:
DENVER, Pa. -- There's a nationwide alert for a fuel truck that was stolen from Leffler Oil Company in Lancaster County. The 1992 truck has Leffler markings on the doors but not on the tank. The truck was last seen parked at a fuel station on North Sixth Street in Denver, Lancaster County. The alert went out on Monday when a driver noticed the truck was missing. The truck was carrying about $3,500 worth of a low-sulphur fuel. The truck is valued at $25,000.

A model rocket fired at Jet Airline in Boston.
So what is happening to the transportation Industry? My opinion it is one of the many means to cause mass destruction with the least chance of failure. Considering if they (Terrorists) can get a hold of items, like what is being stolen recently or can be done from a distance.
Just my opinion though.
Well let's see, 200 sticks of dynamite along with blasting caps and several bags of ammonium nitrate (they won't give the real number of bags) stolen in Tn., and now approx. 1400 gal. of fuel oil (Diesel) in Pa..
Think they might be getting ready for something?
Coyote,
I am surprised something hasn't happened already. I don't want anything to happen but as blind as our leaders are about the Enemy within, like I said I am really surprised something hasn't happened already.
As we have been saying all along. It is going to take these whacko islamo-terror wanna be jerks to destroy something in Washington DC before they really wake up and see that this stuff going missing needs to be priority one on recovery. Finding it in Washington SHOULD NEVER have happened. It should have been seen way before Washington. Hell, there is enough video cameras in Washington, that no one can whiz on the sidewalk without Secret Service knowing about it but they recover a truck that was left in Washington? Found a few miles from Washington. Ok People, how much damage can be done in a blast radius? and if it is a dirty bomb, what would be the safe distance outside the radius? ANY distance is to close, you know what I mean.
Would someone PLEASE stop rolling over and hitting the snooze alarm and WAKE UP.
*soap box put away for now*
